Russian court sets date for closed trial of scientist who developed hypersonic missile

Moscow [Russia], May 25: The first of three Russian scientists arrested during the development of a hypersonic missile will appear in court next week, according to the St Petersburg court website.

Mr. Maslov was taken to the Lefortovo detention center in Moscow. TASS cited a source familiar with the matter, revealing that this scientist was suspected of sharing classified information related to hypersonic missile
Mr. Maslov and two other associates, Valery Zvegintsev and Alexander Shiplyuk, Director of ITAM, were both arrested on charges of serious treason.
All three are experts in hypersonic engineering, a key area for the development of Russia's next-generation missiles.
According to the St Petersburg court, Mr. Maslov's trial was classified as "top secret" and was not disclosed to the media or the public. Maslov's detention period was extended to November 10.
