A Chinese expedition conquered the world's highest peak for scientific research

Beijing [China], May 26: ĆOMOLANGMA On May 23, a Chinese expedition arrived at the top of the Ćomolangma mountain, with the intention of conducting scientific research on the highest peak in the world.
According to Xinhua, the members of the expedition left the camp at an altitude of 8,300 meters on May 23 at 3 a.m. and arrived at the meteorological station at an altitude of 8,830 meters, the highest of its kind in the world, after eight hours of strenuous climbing.
After attaching steel cables, replacing batteries and installing wind speed and direction sensors, they finished upgrading the weather station.
They then climbed to the 8,848.86-meter peak to collect ice and snow samples that will be used to study air pollutants, especially new pollutants.
The Mount Qomolangma Expedition 2023 is part of the second comprehensive scientific expedition to the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau that began in 2017. Since the end of April, a total of 170 scientists have been conducting research on water, ecology and human activities in the Mount Qomolangma region.
